What Is Ceramic Coating and Why It Matters for Your Vehicle

Ceramic coating is an advanced nano-technology-based paint protection solution that chemically bonds to your car’s surface. Unlike waxes or sealants that simply sit on top of paint, ceramic coatings form a semi-permanent protective layer that resists UV rays, oxidation, and environmental contaminants.

In simple terms: It’s like adding a transparent, glass-like shield over your car’s paint — keeping it cleaner, glossier, and easier to maintain.

Benefits of Professional Ceramic Coating for Car Owners

A professionally applied ceramic coating isn’t just about looks — it’s about preserving your investment and reducing maintenance.

Long-Term Paint Protection

Resists sun damage, water spots, and acid rain. Your paint remains vibrant even after years of exposure.

Easier Maintenance

The slick, hydrophobic surface means dirt, mud, and contaminants slide off effortlessly.

Enhanced Gloss and Depth

Expect a rich, candy-like finish that enhances depth, clarity, and reflectivity.

Increased Resale Value

A vehicle with protected, flawless paintwork stands out in resale markets — and often fetches higher prices.

Cost-Effective Over Time

Ceramic coatings last 2–5+ years with proper maintenance, reducing the need for constant waxing and detailing.

Our Ceramic Coating Process – Step-by-Step Precision

Every coating application follows a meticulous, multi-step process ensuring maximum durability and shine.

Vehicle Inspection & Surface Assessment

We analyze your paint condition using paint depth gauges and light inspection tools to identify imperfections.

Decontamination & Surface Prep

The paint is chemically and mechanically decontaminated — removing tar, iron, and residues that affect coating adhesion.

Paint Correction

Minor swirl marks, oxidation, or scratches are corrected using multi-stage polishing, creating a smooth surface for the coating to bond perfectly.

Ceramic Coating Application

We apply the coating using precise crosshatch techniques, ensuring uniform coverage.

Final Inspection

We closely inspect the vehicle to ensure the coating has been perfectly levelled, leaving no high spots behind and leave it to cure.

Our Trusted Ceramic Coating Packages

The starting prices below includes the prep process, a single stage polish, and applying the ceramic coating. Final price will be deoendnent on the size, condition, and type of coating you choose

3 Year Coating

Graphene infused for improved protection from water spots

Starting Price: $850

5 Year Coating

The highest gloss option

Starting Price: $1050

8 Year Coating

The ultimate durability for your daily driver

Starting Price $1250

No matter your car type — sedan, SUV, sports, or 4WD — we customize the process to suit your vehicle’s paint system and lifestyle needs. The quoted durability of our coatings is based on the manufacturer’s recommendations and is dependant on how the vehicle is maintained and stored (e.g. a 3 year coating on a regularly maintained and garaged vehicle can last longer than a 5 year coating on a daily driven, never washed vehicle that lives outside).

The Science Behind Ceramic Coating – How It Protects and Enhances Your Paint

At its core, ceramic coating uses SiO₂ (silicon dioxide) or SiC (silicon carbide) compounds. These nanoparticles fill microscopic pores in the paint, creating a hydrophobic surface that repels water, dirt, and grime.

When applied by certified professionals, the coating cross-links with the clear coat, forming a barrier that can last for years with proper maintenance.

Key Benefits of This Nano Layer:

  • Shields paint from UV fading, oxidation, and corrosion
  • Prevents bird droppings, tar, and tree sap from bonding to paint
  • Keeps your car cleaner for longer and makes washing easier
  • Creates a mirror-like deep gloss finish

This technology doesn’t just protect — it transforms your vehicle’s visual appeal and value.

Your Go-To Ceramic Coating Experts on the Mornington Peninsula

Getting your car ceramic coated is one of the best ways to bring out the shine and protect your paint for years to come. However, if not done properly, you won’t get the results you were expecting – and worse, you could end up paying more to fix a cheap job than just getting it done right the first time.

The "Ceramic" marketing trick

The term ‘ceramic’ has been abused in the detailing industry by big brands looking to get on the trend – from ‘ceramic’ glass cleaners to tyre dressings. Many products are marketed as ‘ceramic spray coatings’ and lead users to believe they are getting the benefits of a true ceramic coating – however this is just a marketing trap.

Ceramic Spray Sealant Vs True Ceramic Coatings

True ceramic coatings are built on silane/siloxane (silicon-based) chemistry that bonds to the surface and cross-links into a hard glass-like network, meaning that an actual chemical transformation occurs when the coating becomes part of the surface. Silicon dioxide powder (Si02), which are the ceramic particles found in spray products, does not do this.

Performance Claims

As ceramic sprays are simply Si02 material in a liquid carrier, they do not chemically bond and harden into a protective layer but instead sit on the surface as a temporary additive with limited protection. In real world conditions, a ceramic spray will provide 3-6 months protection at best, whereas a true cross-linking bonded ceramic coating will provide multiple years of much stronger protection.

FAQs – Everything You Should Know About Ceramic Coating

Is Ceramic Coating Worth It Before Applying Paint Protection Film (PPF)?

It is not recommended before PPF application and should be applied after the PPF is installed.

Lifespan depends on the coating type and maintenance routine. In the real world coatings should generally last anywhere from 2-7+ years

If your paint is chipping and fading due to clear coat failure, the only option to fix that is with a respray. A ceramic coating will not be able to help.

We do not apply coatings to vehicles that have not gone through the proper prep and correction as you will not reap the benefits of a coating without it.

Once the coating is applied, the vehicle needs to cure out of the elements over night. After that, you should wait 7 days before the first wash or applying any chemicals to the paint. Always use pH-neutral shampoos and soft microfiber mitts to maintain coating integrity.
